Happy Thanksgiving & My Mom’s B-Day

Saturday, November 29th, 2008

What’s Up EVERYBODY?

I wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. Hope everyone had a warm meal and something to be thankful for.

We had a game on Thanksgiving Day…it was a Euro League game, which we won. I played ok, had a bad shooting night but we got the “W” which is the most important thing and we played much better as a team. The next day we had Thanksgiving dinner at one of my teammate’s house (Andre Hutson), he actually balled out the other night scoring a season high 26 points, by far his best game of the year. At dinner was me, my mom, lil brother, Allen Ray, EB, his brother, all at Andre’s house. So we did have Thanksgiving…it was just a day late but much needed. Andre’s wife put it down, she is an amazing cook (Lucky Dre)…I can’t front I was KNOCKED OUT after eating all that food. I haven’t had food like that since I was back in the States. I really enjoyed it…it’s something I will always remember, having Thanksgiving in Rome. I am very thankful…

MOM’S BIRTHDAY

Today is the 29th and it’s my Mom’s birthday. Just wanted to wish her a Happy Birthday in front of everybody who’s listening. Thanks for puttin up with me these last 19 yrs. I’M BLESSED TO HAVE YOU IN MY LIFE.

Besides that, tomorrow we have a game against NBA Veteran Earl Boykins’ team…it should be a great one. He’s a very good and smart player who brings a ton of experience to the game…I have lots of respect for him and what he has been able to accomplish in his career.

Other than that I am working hard and keeping life as simple as possible. Thanks again for all of the support and I will talk everyone real soon.

Staying Positive

Monday, November 24th, 2008

What’s up, everybody? We just finished a long week of practice and it wasn’t easy, I’ll tell you that. Monday we had a day off, which was cool. Tuesday-Friday it was straight running, we felt like we were trying out for the Olympic Cross Country Team or something. I think the coach was upset about our loss last week, because he made us run on the football field (soccer field) for a good 45mins. Then the next day we ran 80 sprints in practice for an hour and a half…which was rough. It felt like we were back in pre-season training camp. Then the next day we worked on defense the entire practice. This was all leading up to our game on Sunday…

So we had the game on Sunday against Scavolini Spar Pesaro…and we lost 106-93. It was pretty ugly. At one point I think we were down by 30pts. But my teammates never gave up. Allen Ray and Andre Hutson played really hard trying to keep us in the game. Hutson had 18pts, A Ray had 20pts. I only played 8mins in the game…5pts, 1asst. Not bad for 8mins, I guess…but I’d be lying if I said I’m not hungry for more PT.

No matter how much time I get on the floor in games, nothing is going to stop me from working hard every day, like staying after practice to shoot, getting to practice 30mins before to hit the weights, etc. I want to be the best I can be on the floor for my team, and I want to show my team I care so I will always be prepared. I’m never going to stop working, this has always been a big part of who I am. I take a lot of pride in knowing that I work as hard as I do.

It’s all about learning and staying positive, so I’m going to take everything in stride and be the hardest worker on the team. It is a long season and we have just begun…we have about 50 more games so the more prepared I stay, the better off we all will be towards the end of the season.

Until next time,
Brandon

Lottomatica vs. Montespachi (Worst Loss Of The Season)

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

Wassup everybody, our last game was against Siena, one of the best teams in Europe. They beat us by 20…68-88. Pretty bad. We couldn’t get anything to fall. But I’m not gonna lie, they play just like the Spurs. They had Terrell McIntyre as Tony Parker, Shaun Stonerook as Tim Duncan, and they had another dude—can’t remember his name—who played D like Bruce Bowen. They were a very good team that has been together for 4 years. As for me, what I thought about the game is that it was good for me…because next year hopefully I’m going to be playing against great teams like that every night. Even when we made a run they just stayed calm, didn’t get caught up in the crowd, and showed how mature they were. And they were well coached with a deep bench. They just kept bringing more heat every time we tried to make a run. After the game I got GQed out so I could go out to eat with my mom, little brother, my teammate Andre Hutson, his wife and son. We went to the Hard Rock Cafe. It took us about 2 hrs just to sit down at our table…Rome Hard Rock is always packed. So by the time we did get our table, I just had a hot fudge sundae, which was BOMB.

This week coming up we don’t have a Euro league game, so we have a week off…which means practice, practice, practice (A.I voice). lol!!!! After getting beat by 20 I’m sure we’re going to have 2-a-days every day, but I’ll tell y’all how it goes. I’m out…Mom just made some BOMB pasta and salmon. G2G before my brother Terrence eats it all with his greedy self.

Best,
Brandon

Euro League Win & UA Commercial

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

What’s up, everybody?!? Just got back from Spain where I had a Euro League game against Tau Ceramica…they are #1 in our section. They had a point guard by the name of Mustafa Shakur—maybe you’ve heard of him, he played at U of A.

It was a great game, we won by 3, 93-90. The refs kind of got caught up in some off-the-court action, because the fans were acting crazy, a few fights broke out. During the game a fan threw a coin that flew past our bench. I was kind of worried after that because who knows what else they were going to throw? My stats that game were 17pts-3assts-2rebs-2stls, in 17 mins. So I guess I can say I got the best of Mustafa that night…he had 4pts. That’s still my dude though, he’s a great guy and tough player.

Just had an ESPN The Magazine photo shoot, which was cool. They followed me around all day, got a lot of cool pics of some things people normally wouldn’t see me doing. Also, I did my first commercial for Under Armour, which was a lot of fun. I had to get up at 5:30 in the morning and start shooting the commercial by 6am. Didn’t get done til 3pm…it was a lonnnggg day. And then I had practice from 4pm til 6:30. Felt like I worked a 9-5…but longer. Not going to give you any details on what I’m doing in the commercial, all I’m gonna say is it’s really tight!

Other than that, everything else has been the same ol’ same. Talk to y’all later.

The Latest

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

Last week I had 2 games…we won 1 and lost 1. We played against Rashad Anderson’s team, and he had 37pts. He was shooting 3’s like he was in a 3pt contest. We lost 104-100…great game though. I had 5pts-7asst-3steals-2rebs.

Haven’t been doing a lot of shopping, Mom’s birthday is coming up so I gotta get her something special…November 29th is her B-day. I’ll probably get her something from Prada and take her out to eat.

Haven’t seen any movies lately, but I do listen to a lot of music right now. What’s in my iPod?…The Game, Joe Budden, Jay-Z, Ryan Leslie, Jadakiss, Freck Billionaire, and Fab. But what I listen to before the game is Freck Billionaire, and Ryan Leslie.

My coach is pretty cool, but he has a crazy side. He always stresses DEFENSE to us, so you know I’m playing a lot of defense this year. He’s real tough on me, but I don’t trip…it’s just getting me ready for the NBA next year. So I thank him for everything he puts me through.

Shoutout to my Music Guy and one of the funniest dudes I know, Black Tray (aka Doin the Bounce). And my reckless crew, Mw1ll, Mal Wall, Deezy, and Nodayzoff.

O Yea!

Friday, November 7th, 2008

I bet y’all wanna know what I’ve been up to these last 2 weeks. First things first, I’m sure you’ve been lookin at my stats and saying he’s not doin much. But you guys have to understand that it’s not about just one player, it’s about the team over here. And they’re all about winning, so if I’m putting up 30pts a night and losing, it doesn’t mean anything over here. But that’s why I’m loving it…because I’m all about winning too.

But enough of that. Right now my team is 6-1…we’re doin great as a team, and I’m playing about 18-20mins a game, which isn’t bad for someone straight outta high school. I’m sure everybody was hype about the Ricky Rubio game. We played them in a Euro league game…but he didn’t play. We won by 20pts. I played well. Just ran the team like I was supposed to do.

Off the court? Well, these last 2 weeks been kind of cool, I had a photo shoot for ESPN The Magazine, and interviews for magazines like DIME and SLAM. Other than that, I just go to practice, come home and go right to my room, where I stay on the internet. I’m on Myspace a lot, AIM, I do the Skype thing a little, and I ordered the NBA League Pass online so I’m keepin up with the NBA. And I ordered the college package…I’ll really keep a close eye on college. My favorites this year in college gotta be UCLA because my man Malcolm Lee goes there, so I’m going for my boy. UConn, because my man Kemba goes there…they better keep an eye on that dude, he’s tough. And Washington, my man Isaiah Thomas goes there and he’ll light it up for 30 any day. Last but not least Memphis and my man Tyreke Evans (aka TOO easy). So to the Class of 08, show them that our class isn’t weak. Last thing, my lil brother is going to be the next Ryan Leslie hands down, just watch and you’ll see.

Love, BJ
