Merry Christmas

Saturday, December 27th, 2008

Wassup Everybody,
Hope everyone had a blessed Holiday, and I hope everyone had a warm meal to eat. My Christmas was cool. Me, Terrence and my Mom had dinner at my teammate Andre Hutson’s house. His lovely wife cooked a Bomb Dinner for us. It was great! First time ever being away from home for Christmas…I’m not gonna lie I enjoyed it. It was real laid back. Until next time, gotta get back to this Laker game.

Happy Holiday’s & Giving Back

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

Wassup Y’all,

Today was a GREAT day! My Team-Mates and I got to spend time at a children’s hospital,
giving out Christmas gifts to the kids. It was really cool. When you go
to places like that, it reminds you how blessed you really are. There
were kids in there who probably won’t be able to make it to next
year…I’m glad I was able to at least do something small and put a
smile on their faces. I am a fortunate person for a lot of reasons.

From Team Jennings, just wanna say Happy Holidays and Happy New Year to
all of you!

Blogging & Music

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

Wassup Everybody?!? Just wanted to write to y’all to clear up a few things. I’ve been seeing some negative talk about some of the things I’ve written on my blog. My blog is not to put anyone on blast or anything like that. The things I say are to show kids who are thinking about coming over here how real it is, and I’m just going to keep it 100% real. Because I don’t want anyone coming over here thinking it’s easy. The whole reason I’m doing the blog is because I made a decision that is basically unprecedented. I’m not trying to make myself sound better than anyone else…I’m just trying to tell people what it’s like. So that’s why I talk about the ups and the downs. It’s not a game once you become a Pro, it’s real life. To be great, you gotta put in the time and be responsible off the court.

But anyways. I have a Euro League game tomorrow. I play against my boy Frank Robinson…he’s from LA. Met him playing pick up and stuff in LA. So it could be fun playing against him. I know he’s hyped about the game…I talked to him a few times over skype. We gotta get this Win. Every game is important, but we need this one.

A few people have asked me what kind of music I like to get me ready. Songs I listen to before the game:
Freck Billionaire- Don’t Talk Much, Classic 100 bars
Jadakiss- Bring You Down, Shine
Joe Budden- OverKill
Stack Bundles- Good With the Bad
Fabolous- I Don’t See Nobody
The Game- Still Me, Put You On The Game
Jay-Z- Pray, No Hook
Common ft Pharrell- Announcement
Ice Cube ft The Game-  Get Use To It
Bun B- You’re Everything
Jazmine Sullivan- Need U Bad, (think bout my girl)
And all of Ryan Leslie’s songs.

Happy Holiday’s,

B Jennings

Barcelona, Spain Trip & Euro League Game

Friday, December 12th, 2008

Hey wasup everybody - We just got back from Barcelona, Spain, where we had a huge Euro League game. It was a great trip overall. The food and city are amazing. We got to Spain around 7pm Wed night. As soon as we checked into the hotel we had a team meeting and team dinner. I then bounced to do a few media requests with Ricky Rubio. I was able to spend a few hours with Ricky, he was really cool, he speaks English very well.  Just like me he has a ton of energy and loves playing the game of basketball. He showed up to the media blitz with his Mom and Dad, he has really nice parents. We talked for a few minutes. It was funny because I was signing my Jersey for someone and Ricky says to me “You are left handed”. It was funny because he was already sizing me up for the game. What I noticed is that Ricky also writes with his left hand but plays the game right handed, he must have a pretty good left? All and all I was really happy to meet Ricky and look forward to being his friend for many years to come.

Now to what everyone wants to hear about, the game and the matchup with Ricky. Unfortunately Ricky only played about 8mins cause he’s still kind of hurt from a wrist injury he suffered in the Gold Medal game vs. Team USA, but in just 8mins he showed me a lot. I have a ton of respect for the dude. He’s real mature out there on the court, he has a great feel for the game. He passes the ball like crazy, reminds me of Steve Nash a little bit. Put it like this if he were in the class of 09 in high school basketball he would be the #1 player hands down. No question about it. I can only hope that when Ricky and I one day get to the NBA we can be like Chris Paul and Deron Williams, as our careers take off together like CP3 & D Will’s did. Despite what the critics say that he can’t shoot Ricky is going to be going a Great NBA player someday…he brings a complete game to the table.

Other than that I felt like I played pretty good. It was my first time really getting a chance to play extended minutes in crunch time for like 2 months. I could tell my legs and wind were not used to the minutes, the game was being played at a fast pace because all Ricky’s team does is full-court press the entire game. One more thing the Arena that we played at was Ice Cold, felt like we were playing in a hockey rink.  This is the same arena that the 1992 Dream Team played in so that was a great experience as well. I also need to get more comfortable on the floor; with more minutes the feel will come back soon. I feel like I’m getting my swagger back a little. There were about 30 NBA Scouts in the stands which was crazy. I’m really interested in knowing what are some of things I need to work on. I already know that I am focusing on my off the ball defense, fighting through screens and getting myself in better help position.

If you want to read more about the game check out the article that Lang Whitaker (SLAM Magazine) who was at the game last night wrote for slamonline.com.

Also, usatoday.com covered the game. I guess they had people there also?

A Bunch of Things…

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

Wassup Everybody,

I know it’s been a few weeks, I think? I just got back from a road trip where we played against Carife Ferrara. They are also in the Italian League. We ended up losing by 6 points. Things aren’t going great right now for us in the Italian League…we’ve lost 5 in a row. We gotta find a way to turn this thing around and start winning again.

I think we will be fine because we are a mentally tough team and we work really hard. After the game the other night our GM got me kind of fired up as he said some tough things we all deserved to hear. I think that’s what we needed and hopefully it will turn things around for us. A lot of the guys on the team have been sick with the flu and are hurt right now, so we’ve been playing short-handed…only 8 guys in the lineup. Hopefully everybody gets better soon ’cause at the end of the day we need all 12 guys.

Other than that it’s been the same ol same, just working as hard as I can and staying focused. I’m not sure if you guys have seen it yet but I recently got the cover of DIME Magazine’s December Issue. So the next time you go to the newsstand look for it and check it out. My boys say I look like I’m 12 years old in the cover picture, lol. Also, on this cover Dime I am not rockin UA basketball shoes but our New Evade II low top Trainers. You guys will have to wait to see my new UA hoops shoes. I will be rockin a fly pair in my game Thursday night vs. Ricky Rubio. But on a serious note, I really want to thank everyone at DIME for supporting me while I have been so far away from home. You guys have been in my corner since my Fresh/Soph year in HS…that’s love and I appreciate it!

Like I said this Thursday, we play against Ricky Rubio’s squad in the Euro League, Spain. This is gonna be a lot of fun. A lot of people have mentioned this game to me…I’m looking forward to the challenge of playing a tough squad and a high-profile talent like Ricky. Right now we are 1st in the Euro League and Ricky’s team is 3rd. I know they are going to come out hard especially since we are playing in their gym and they are extra hungry for a W. I know if we execute everything our Coaching Staff has been preparing us for we will be okay. We need to stay focused, take care of the ball and execute the game plan.

Finally, I have to give my Mom some love as she made fried chicken the other night…haven’t had that in a long time. I can’t even tell you how much I missed that! I’m starting to appreciate the little things more than ever.

Until next time!

Your Boy,

Brandon
