Oldies vs. Hip Hop

As you know I love music, without Music I don’t know what this world would be. I love Hip-Hop and I love the Oldies.

Which is better to you and what are you listening to???

Best,

Christ-exalting hip hop is where it’s at. Not only do these dudes glorify and praise the Master, but their skills are on point and God’s blessing rests upon their craft. I suggest checking it out. Some of my favorite Holy hip-hop artists are:

    -Timothy Brindle
    -shai linne
    -Lecrae
    -Trip Lee
    -The Cross Movement
    -Da’ T.R.U.T.H.

On that note, C.R.E.A.M…Christ Rules Everything Around Me!!

IMO, oldies have had a major influence on hip hop as you can see from the sampling that goes on in beat-making, but it all depends on what kind of mood you’re in. Hip-hop gets more play in my ipod but if i wanna lay back and chill, oldies are a good choice. I don’t know if you would consider El Debarge’s “All This Love” to be an oldie, but it is for me, and that’s one of my favourites…and when the producer Chop D.I.E.S.E.L. sampled it for AZ’s “Problems” track, it was off the efffin meat rack!!!! Go youtube it, it’s awesome.

I play Hip Hop more but you gotta respect the oldies and Hip Hop is super diverse theres a song to match just about every emotion or style there is. I listen to just about everybody lol but Bondservant For Christ is rite Christ related Hip Hop is more thoughtful and spirit raising. (Not knockin the mainstream rappers like Jay, Lupe,Kanye,Wayne and all them cause I love their music too)

honestly u gotta listen to anything that goes outside the box. im a hip hop head, but honestly if someone were to ask me what music i like’d id just say music. at certain points, genres begin to blend, and if its still dope who gives a damn if its hip hop or folk or reggae. hip hop now is becoming stagnant. if youve heard one song youve heard them all is what its becoming, you always have to look for those tracks that go beyond that will expand the genre, cause hip hop has so much more potential than one would see from listening to all the stuff that has been coming out.

I am listening to more old school than new school. Most old school is timeless. But Jasmine Sullivan is my girl right now! She is the best talent that has come out in a while. She is new school with an old school sound. She is worth the money to buy her album.

Okay, Okay, being a music head myself, I am feeling this question. My bad, I am new to the site. I was looking through the SLAM mag. the other day and saw you in there leading to this link. I had to go and check it out because you are indeed one of my favorite young players man. But anyway, to the question, I would have to say the oldies are better to me. I am 28 and an 80’s baby so you know I think the 80’s was the best time for music. Great music was put out through the 80’s and 90’s! I sing so I am an R&B cat…think about it…Boyz 2 Men, Troop….etc. But the list goes back even further then that…70’s was good too, even though i wasn’t born then, I was brought up on the Isley Brothers, Marvin Gaye, Johnny Taylor, Luther Vandross….MAN HOL’UP! I could go on for days! So…what am I listning too now…hmm….man, to be honest I gotta go with my boy Robin Thicke! He is on point right now! White dude got some soul in man I’m telling you! The boy is a bad! I am still a big Boyz 2 Men fan because they are some the best vocalist of my time. And I still reach back and listen to some oldies but goodies! If you want to hear some of my personal stuff or people that have recorded at my studio check out my myspace page, I have 2. http://www.myspace.com/klawzetstudios and the other is http://www.myspace.com/cliftonlboyd

On my studio page I did an acappella answer to beyonce’s (If I Were A Boy) . I flipped it and did an answer to her that get’s alot of play on my page. Check it out and let me know what you think. On boyz to men song and the beyonce’s answer, I am doing all the parts check it out! Yo, keep doing your thing and be blessed. Keep your family close because there is nothing like family. Peace.
